RieSyncD ("we", "us", "our") is built on a fundamental design principle: your financial behavior belongs to you. Unlike conventional financial software that connects to your bank accounts, aggregates your transactions in cloud databases, and monetizes your data, RieSyncD is architected as a local-first system.

1. Who we are

RieSyncD is developed and operated from Cape Town, South Africa. For any inquiries regarding privacy or data sovereignty, contact bright@riesyncd.app.

2. Local-First Data Storage (Your Device is the Vault)

By default, 100% of your financial entries, daily spends, spend reflections ("Why"), earnings, income sources ("How"), milestones, and reflections are stored locally on your device using browser IndexedDB storage.

• Your private numbers, transactions, and reflections are never sent to our servers.
• The core application operates completely offline without an internet connection.
• We do not have access to your database, your balances, or your daily ledger.

3. Information We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect or request your bank account logins, credentials, or card numbers.
• We do not track your location, browsing behavior, or third-party web activity.
• We do not sell, rent, or trade your financial records to advertisers, credit bureaus, or data brokers.

4. Data Sovereignty & Portability

RieSyncD guarantees that your records remain portable for decades:

• Open JSON Backup: You can export a complete, unencrypted copy of your full database conforming to our versioned schema (v1.0.0) at any time.
• Spreadsheet CSV Export: You can export your daily ledger into standard CSV format for use in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or Apple Numbers.
• Instant Erasure: You can permanently wipe all local records from your device at any time directly through the Settings modal.

5. Phase 2: Optional Opt-In Community Features

In Phase 2, if you explicitly choose to join an optional community accountability circle:

• You may choose to participate anonymously (under a generated handle) or with a public alias.
• By default, only consistency streaks and milestone completions are shared with your circle. Raw currency amounts and detailed spend reflections remain strictly private on your device unless explicitly disclosed.

6. Compliance with POPIA & International Standards

We comply with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and align with international standards such as the GDPR. Because your data remains on your local hardware, you retain direct, unfiltered control over the access, modification, and deletion of your personal data.
